Dear Parents & Carers,
Welcome back to Term 2 and a special warm welcome to all of our new families who have joined Parramatta East PS in the last week. Our students have returned excited and happy to learn this term to much smaller class sizes. As you are aware due to the building upgrade we have had some changes to our school staffing entitlement allowing us to form 3 additional classes for the rest of the year. Below is a list of updated classes and staff at PEPS for 2025. Mrs Miller is currently on leave and I have the pleasure as relieving Principal for the term.
Many students have had the opportunity to have a dental or vision screener this week at our school. The services will provide you with feedback if your child further attention on their teeth or eyes. You may have noticed the mobile van located in the asphalt.
Thank you to our P & C for organising the BBQ on Election Day and for organising the Mother’s Day stall today at school. I’m sure our mums will enjoy all the special gifts they receive on Sunday. I would like to wish all mums a very Happy Mother’s Day for Sunday.
We have another busy term ahead of us with Years 3-6 Cross Country next Wednesday and Walk Safely to School Day next Friday, just to name a few events that are happening in the coming weeks.
As we head into the cooler months, please ensure that all students are wearing the correct school uniform for Terms 2 & 3.

It's been a busy start to the term in 6 Pemulwuy! We've started our unit on persuasive speeches by presenting short practice speeches to the class - including Roary, who seemed very passionate about his subject matter. Over the next few weeks, we'll be exploring how to write convincing arguments and how to deliver them as powerfully and confidently as possible.
In Maths, we've been learning how to build, sort, add, subtract and multiply decimals. Roary's been getting his tens and tenths mixed up, but he's received plenty of support from his human peers.
There's never a dull moment in 6 Pemulwuy, and we're looking forward to having another great term together!

In 4 Buru, we have started our Science unit on forces! We investigated situations that we see everyday in the world around us and found that push and pull happen all the time. This week, we have also conducted an experiment learning about non-contact forces such as gravity and magnetism. Did you know that you can move a magnet without touching it? And that there is no gravity in space?
Since the beginning of the year, 2 Bubug students have been putting in outstanding effort across all subjects. In writing, students have been experimenting with a variety of tools to create engaging narratives. Our math sessions are interactive, allowing students to strengthen their understanding of number facts and discover new concepts -all while having fun! In science, we learnt how the Dharug people used natural resources to build shelters. Working collaboratively, students constructed their own weather-appropriate shelters using materials found in our school environment.
