1 Burra have had a super exciting and busy week, with it being the middle of Term 3 already! We have been creating our own imaginative texts in class and have been using techniques such as the power of three, dialogue, onomatopoeia and verbs to make our stories as descriptive and creative as possible. It has been so pleasing to see their end results as a reflection of what they have been working towards these past few weeks. 

In mathematics 1 Burra have been exploring 2D shapes and their lines of symmetry. We have done a variety of activities involving learning to slide, rotate and reflect our own shapes using mirrors and other interesting tools. We have also been learning about the different strategies that can help with our addition such as doubles and near doubles, friends of 10 and counting on, using resources such as tens frames and counters!

On Wednesday 20th of August, we had our book week parade. It was so wonderful seeing all the amazing costumes everyone had put so much effort into!

We’ve had such a fantastic week and look forward to the rest of the term!
