1 Gudugulung have been very busy learning about about Pirates and writing a text called “The Story of Pirate Tom”. We have used our text and created a story map, made actions to the story and looked at all the language features of our text. We even got to be Pirates for a day and follow a treasure map around the school with our Pirate hats. I class we are writing our own version of the text using words and features we have learnt. We were lucky to have Rory along in our classroom to support us in our writing. We cant wait to finish our stories and bring them home.
5 Goolagong: Our dream map of our school
In Geography, 5 Goolagong have been learning about the different features of places and how people and the environment influences the characteristics of these places. We have been looking closely at the government responsibilities of places and factors of consideration when making changes and improvements to cater for communities, whilst ensuring the environment isn’t negatively impacted. Our task was to design a map of our school, incorporating changes that we wish to see to ensure we have adequate learning spaces with improvements and additions of green and inclusive spaces. The students worked in pairs to research school designs and carefully planned and drew their own map. They included larger green spaces, and accessibility aspects of lifts and calm spaces.
