Dear Parents and carers,
As we progress through another term, our students continue to excel academically, socially, and emotionally, and it’s inspiring to see their growth each day. I am immensely proud of the dedication our teachers and staff demonstrate in fostering a nurturing and stimulating environment for our students.
As we look ahead, there are many events on the horizon. I encourage all parents to stay involved and engaged with our school community, as your support is invaluable to the success of our students.
We continue to seek donations of lollies, prizes for our Chocolate Wheel and Hoopla, as well as sponsorship for our stalls. Your generous contributions will not only support our 75th Birthday Celebrations but will also help us invest in resources and programs that will benefit our students for years to come. No donation is too small, and every contribution will make a difference.
Thank you for your ongoing commitment to our school. I look forward to seeing what we can achieve together in the coming months.

On Friday 20th September, at our 75th birthday celebrations, there will be a sausage sizzle and ice cream spider stall run by the OSHClub staff. In order to ensure we have the correct number of sausages, we would like all sausages to pre-ordered. On the day there will only be a strictly limited number of sausages for sale for people without pre-orders, and these will only be available to purchase in the afternoon once pre-ordered sausages have been claimed.
The following items are available to pre-order:
Beef sausage sizzle - $3
Chicken sausage sizzle - $3
Vegetarian sausage sizzle - $3
Ice cream spider - $2
All sausages are halal.
Sausages will be served on a slice of white bread
Payment must be completed via the School Bytes Parent Portal by Friday 23rd August. Please order all items for your family under the name of the eldest child. This child will receive their sausage and spider tokens in the morning before the fete.
It was a pleasure to welcome our families into our open classrooms last week to have a taste of the magic that happens in these rooms each day. Thank you to all the mums, dads, grandparents and other family members who come in. Happy Public Education Week!
This year's theme was 'Proud to Belong' and we asked some of our community what belonging means to them.
1 Burra has recently been conducting some investigations during our maths lessons. We have been observing which polygons have a line of symmetry - that is, they are a mirror image on each side. We have identified that some polygons have a vertical line of symmetry and some have a horizontal line of symmetry. Some polygons even have both vertical and horizontal lines of symmetry! We have also experimented by making some shapes and patterns that are symmetrical using some polygon blocks and a mirror or shiny cardboard to prove it is symmetrical by checking the mirror shows the same pattern, and it not off to the side, or bending a different way. We looked from the top to check that when it was chopped in half, the mirror showed what we could see the same pattern. Have a look at some of our creations below.
Here are the photos from one of this weeks' maths lessons in 4 Wombady. It was a fun lesson about finding the area of a shape on a grid square. There were some chellenging tasks where they had to understand that half a triangle is the same area as a square and to add it all up accordingly. They did an excellent job giving it their best efforts!
5/6 Windradyne have been learning lots about mathematical problems and the various ways we can solve addition and subtraction problems. We have been using strategies like split, compensation, number combinations, empty number lines. We have also been using these strategies to solve a variety of different worded problems. Below you'll some different work that we have been completing. Enjoy.
