Dear Parents and Carers,
As we approach the significant milestone of our school's 75th birthday, I am filled with excitement and gratitude. This is a momentous occasion for our entire school community, and we have planned a series of special events and activities to celebrate.
I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you for your generous donations. Your contributions have been instrumental in ensuring that our celebrations will be unforgettable for our students. It is through your support that we can provide such exciting experiences for our children, and for that, we are deeply grateful.
Please keep the donations coming in! Thank you to those families who have reached out to offer to sponsor a stall – we will be thanking you all in finer detail in due course.
Our wonderful SLSO staff have been pounding the local pavements asking for donations and have been moderately successful. If you have a business or are a family and would like to sponsor a stall or make a donation please reach out to us ASAP! You will get free advertising in our Newsletter and on one of the stalls for the day!
Thank you once again for your incredible generosity and support. We look forward to celebrating with you and your families.
Don’t forget to organise the day off work and spread the word – we would love to meet as many members of your extended family as possible on the day!
Today is OOSH Educators Day! We are lucky enough to have an incredible team of professional educators at our OSHClub service. We would like to express our gratitude for the efforts the OSHClub team put in each day to ensure our students can enjoy all sorts of wonderful activities before and after school.
Make sure you let the OSHClub team know how much you appreciate them next time you see them.
We currently have ride wristbands and showbag pre-orders open for families! Don't forget to put in your pre-orders so your child doesn't miss out on the day!
Ride Wristbands
At the fete, there will be a variety of rides which will appeal to students of all ages. We will be using a wristband system to identify which students have paid for and can access rides on the day. Purchasing a pink wristband will give your child unlimited access to the rides for the whole day. There will also be a yellow ‘afternoon session’ wristband for any older siblings joining later in the day (3:30-5:30pm). At this stage, we are only taking pre-orders for the pink wristbands.
Wristbands will be distributed to students by their teacher on the morning of the celebration when the roll is marked. Students will not be able to access the rides without a wristband on the day.
Your wristband will allow you to enjoy the following rides:
- Giant Slide
- Spinning Cup and Saucers
- ‘Disco Show’
- Pirate Ship
- Swinging Chairs
- Inflatable Zoo Maze
Pink wristband – pre-order using the form below - $32 early bird price for unlimited ride access all day. Pink Wristbands will also be available to purchase on the day for $35.
Yellow wristband – purchase from school on the day - No pre-orders available - $10 for ride access between 3:30-5:30pm
Payment must be completed via the School Bytes Parent Portal by Friday 2nd August to secure the early bird pre-order price. Please place an order via School Bytes under the name of your eldest child at our school with the number of wristbands required for your family including any pre-school aged siblings. Include the names of each child in the order form below. Parents accompanying young children on rides will not require a wristband, as long as the child they are accompanying has a wristband.
Showbag Pre-orders
As part of our 75th birthday celebrations, students are able to pre-order showbags which will be available to collect on the day of the fete. There are 18 different showbags ranging from $8 - $30 in price. Showbags must be pre-ordered via the School Bytes portal by Friday 2nd August. Please study the attached catalogue and choose your showbag carefully as once the order is placed we are unable to change your order.

The following items are available to pre-order:

Just Like Me - Stage 3 Incursion
We recently welcomed Variety – the Children’s Charity’s free disability inclusion program, Just Like You to deliver their workshops to our Year 5 and 6 students. Delivered in class to students by a facilitator, the program’s fun and interactive workshops educate students on the acceptance and inclusion of people living with a disability. The program helps them learn that people with a disability are the same as everyone else – they are “Just Like You!” The students were given the opportunity to reflect on their own roles and actions as citizens in their school and community. The Just Like You program proved to be a wonderfully engaging and beneficial experience for the students and was thoroughly enjoyed by all. For more information on the program we encourage you to visit www.justlikeyou.org.au.
Albus the Ringtail Possum
Today is an exciting day in 2 Wirambi! Today is the day our class pet arrived! In Science, stage 1 is learning all about living things, particularly invertebrates, so we have adopted a spiny leaf insect (name TBC although ‘Fluffy’ ‘Spiny’ and ‘Emily’ are top contenders). Our little friend will be making regular visits to all the Stage 1 classes and already we are all teeming with questions such as 'How does she fend off predators?' 'How big will she get?' and 'Does she miss her mum?'
Nationally Consistent Collection of Data
Dear Parents and Carers
Re: Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD)
Every year, all schools in Australia participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). The NCCD process requires schools to identify information already available in the school about supports provided to students with disability. These relate to legislative requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005, in line with the NCCD guidelines (2019).
Information provided about students to the Australian Government for the NCCD includes:
- year of schooling
- category of disability: physical, cognitive, sensory or social/emotional
- level of adjustment provided: support provided within quality differentiated teaching practice, supplementary, substantial or extensive.
This information assists schools to:
- formally recognise the supports and adjustments provided to students with disability in schools
- consider how they can strengthen the support of students with disability in schools
- develop shared practices so that they can review their learning programs in order to improve educational outcomes for students with disability.
The NCCD provides state and federal governments with the information they need to plan more broadly for the support of students with disability.
The NCCD will have no direct impact on your child and your child will not be involved in any testing process. The school will provide data to the Australian Government in such a way that no individual student will be able to be identified – the privacy and confidentiality of all students is ensured. All information is protected by privacy laws that regulate the collection, storage and disclosure of personal information. To find out more about these matters, please refer to the Australian Government’s Privacy Policy (https://www.education.gov.au/privacy-policy).
Further information about the NCCD can be found on the NCCD Portal (https://www.nccd.edu.au).
If you have any questions about the NCCD, please contact the school.
Kind regards
Justine Miller
