Welcome to Term 4!
We’re off to a flying start this term — and what a busy one it’s shaping up to be! Our admin team has now been successfully decanted into our very cosy temporary administration building, and we’re settling in beautifully, huge thanks to Mrs Jacka, Mrs Crawley and Miss Bec who have worked tirelessly to get things up and running. The upgrade is progressing well, with hoardings now in place and demolition set to commence shortly. It’s an exciting time for our school community, so keep your eyes peeled as the transformation begins to take shape!
With the construction underway, please be extra mindful of changing traffic conditions around the school. Yesterday, unfortunately, a staff member’s car mirror was struck by a passing vehicle, and the driver did not stop. This is a timely reminder to take care, slow down, and be patient during these busy times. We now have security cameras throughout the school, and police will be reviewing footage relating to this incident.
It was also disappointing to see some vandalism on the hoarding near the Years 3–6 toilets. We’ve spoken with students, and we’re hopeful this behaviour will cease now that they’re aware of the cameras in the area.
Finally, I’d like to extend a huge thank you to our incredible staff, who continue to go above and beyond to provide engaging alternatives for students during playtime while our playground space is reduced. Their creativity, flexibility and care for our students are truly appreciated.
It’s going to be a busy but exciting term — thank you for your ongoing support and positivity as we continue to grow and improve our wonderful school.
K/1 Gilbanung have had a fantastic start to Term 4!
In Writing, we’ve been exploring informative texts and discovering all sorts of fun facts about foxes — did you know that foxes can swim?! Our young writers have loved learning new facts. In Maths, we’ve been learning about chance, asking questions like “What are the chances it will rain today?” or “What are the chances a dragon will fly into our class?” In Science, we kicked off our Earth and Space unit by observing things in our environment that change and stay the same. We loved doing a bit of outdoor learning on a beautiful sunny day!
We’re looking forward to another wonderful term full of learning, laughter, and growth!

Students in 2 Bubug are actively engaged in the timetabled programs, showing notable progress in reading and mathematics. Last term, the focus was on persuasive discussion writing, with an emphasis on emotive and high modality language. They continue to produce outstanding writing, showcasing their understanding of text structure and features. Students have also been developing their digital skills by publishing their writing using word processing software. 2 Bubug enjoy STEM projects greatly, which encourage collaboration and teamwork.

4 Buru has completed some excellent interactive posters that highlight both their informative writing skills and their creativity in design and presentation. Each student selected a topic of personal interest, resulting in a wonderfully diverse display of ideas and knowledge. The posters covered a wide range of subjects — from favourite video games and mythical creatures to fascinating animals, and technologies. Students demonstrated research skills, organisation of information, and creative flair through pictures, flaps, pockets and other interesting features. What a wide range of different incredible poster designs 4 Buru have produced!
