Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back to our final term for the year. I trust all our families had a very restful and happy holiday.
This term will be another busy term, with many events happening including; Grandparents day this Friday, inter school gala days, K-6 party day, presentation day assemblies on Monday 9th December, Year 6 farewell and graduation ceremony. Look out for more information to come on these events.
Mr Teasdale and some of student leaders had the pleasure of attending a Community BBQ in Parramatta Park yesterday as part of the Royal visit to Australia. Such a wonderful and historic event for our students who were able to see the King and meet the Queen.
A reminder to all parents about road safety when dropping and picking up students around the school. Please observe the road rules and read all road signs to ensure you stop and park only where you are permitted to. This will ensure the safety of all our students.
Just a reminder we are still taking enrolments for Kindergarten 2025, if you have a younger child starting school next year please complete an online enrolment now.
We will be holding a parent information session about Kindergarten 2025 in our school hall on Thursday 31st October from 6:00-7:00pm. All Kindergarten 2025 parents are welcomed to attend. Our first orientation session for all Kindergarten 2025 students will be Tuesday 4th November from 9:30-10:30am.

School Student Transport Scheme - 2025 applications are now open
Students in the Opal network applying for an Opal card (including a Term Bus Pass) for the first time will receive their School Opal card at their nominated postal address from mid-January 2025.
Students progressing from year 2 to year 3 and from year 6 to year 7 do not need to re-apply if they:
- are continuing at the same school, and
- are residing at the same address, and
- have not been sent an expiry notification from Transport for NSW.
Where a student meets the new distance eligibility, the system will automatically update their entitlement. If they do not meet the new eligibility, they will receive an expiry notification.
Students who change address, school, campus location, have repeated a year or received an expiry notification for their school travel entitlement need to renew or updatetheir details before the end of term 4. This will ensure that schools can endorse applications, so their travel entitlement can remain valid for the start of the 2025 school year.
Students who have an entitlement approved under a medical condition that is due to expire will receive a notification advising them to re-apply.
Term Bus Pass holders will receive a notification to re-apply.
K Gilbanung have been participating in mathematical rotational groups at the beginning of Term Four. Students are demonstrating the ability to participate and cooperate with a partner during maths rotations and to turn take. Our mathematicians have demonstrated an understanding of number through games, hands on experiences, identifying numbers to at least 20 in a written manner and through using concrete materials. Counting forwards and backwards to at least 30 was consolidated using a variety of educational games. K Gilbanung are learning to demonstrate their understanding of representing whole numbers in numerous ways. Fact families demonstrated students understanding of the relationship between addition and subtraction. 3D shape building was thoroughly enjoyed by students who created, drew and identified 3D shapes they constructed. Lots of mathematical language was encouraged in order for students to problem solve with guidance, as well as independently. Mrs Gronau and Mrs Mostris are extremely proud of K Gilbunang and their knowledge of representing whole number and 3D spatial structure.
The wet weather last week meant our Kindies didn't get to spend too much time in the garden, but they will get that chance this week! Last week, we read a book about where our food comes from and made playdough vegetable gardens (the kids ‘planted’ corn, carrot, tomato etc in their pretend gardens).
Last Friday the Taronga Zoomobile came to school to talk to Stage 1. We met a variety of native animals that we may come across in our backyard and learned how to treat them with care. As you can imagine, there were a lot of squeals of joy, particularly when we had the opportunity to touch some animals that we haven't touched before.
