Kindergarten Enrolment 2021

Important Update - 20th July 2020

Please enrol your child/ren before Wednesday 2nd September, 2020. This year, for the first time, we will be holding parent and child interviews during 8th-10th September 2020 to ensure a smooth transition to school.

We are now accepting enrolments for Kindergarten 2021 between 10:00am – 2:00pm daily. Please collect your enrolment form from our school office. Due to social distancing we ask that once you have collected your enrolment form you complete it at home and return it back to the office with all your relevant documents.

Our Parent information session and Kindergarten Orientation program will be in Term 4, 2020. All dates will be given to you when you enrol your child/ren. Please check our boundaries for in area enrolments for Parramatta East PS by entering your home address into NSW Public School finder. See the link below

An important message regarding enrolment

We have received advice from the Department of Education with regards to siblings of Temporary Visa Holders for 2021. We can now accept sibling enrolments of Temporary Visa Holders for 2021 as long as the student is in area, was in area when the older sibling enrolled or the older sibling is currently enrolled at Parramatta East PS and is in Kindergarten to Year 5 this year.

If you know of any friends or community members that are in area and are looking to enrol their child/ren in Kindergarten 2021 at Parramtta East PS please pass this information onto them. We look forward to welcoming you and your child/ren to Parramatta East Public School for Kindergarten 2021.

School gates

Dear Parents and Carers,

The school gates open at 8.45am as this is when supervision for students commences. Please do not drop your children off at school before this time. Should you require supervision for your children prior to 8.45am please contact our onsite OSH to enrol.

We have a number of parents who are dropping their children off prior to this time and telling them to wait outside the school grounds until the gates open. This is a very unsafe practice.

Today we have had two separate groups of students who were found by teachers outside the school grounds in the local park after being dropped off at school by their parents. Some of these students were riding scooters back and forth across the road in a dangerous manner.

We want your children to be safe. Every class teacher has spoken to their class today about being safe when arriving at school. It would be appreciated if you could speak to your children about this as well.

2024 Holding Classes

We are looking forward to welcoming students in Years 1-6 back to school on Thursday 1st February. The new school year always brings with it much excitement and some nerves too!

At the beginning of each year, we have a number of students arrive to enrol, and a number more who don't return. For this reason, it is impossible for us to establish finalised classes for the first couple of weeks. For this reason, your child will be placed in a holding class for the first few weeks until numbers are confirmed.

Please read carefully the plan for the first day so that your child will know where to go at the start of the day, and you will know where to pick them up at the end of the day.

Lining up at the start of the day

Students are to line up with their 2023 class as they did last year. They will spend the morning with their 2023 classmates before being placed in their holding class partway through the day.

Pick up at the end of the day

As parents will be unaware of which classroom their child is in, teachers will bring students to a designated pick-up spot on Tuesday afternoon at 3:15.

2023 Stage 1 (Years 1&2) - Under the large COLA

2023 Stage 2 (Years 3&4) - Basketball court (in the case of rain, inside the hall)

2023 Stage 3 (Years 5&6) - Small COLA (next to OSH)

If your child attends OSH, uses Kiss&Drop, the bus or walks home independently, they will be allowed to take themselves to the necessary place. These pick-up locations are for the benefit of parents who collect their children from the classroom in the afternoon.

Your child will have a note with them which outlines the location of their holding classroom. This will be where they can be collected from in subsequent days. Please be aware that the holding class is not your child's confirmed 2024 class. We won't be able to confirm classes until mid-February when enrolments have settled. Your child will bring home another note once classes are confirmed.

Dear Parents/Carers,

Please take the time to ensure your SZApp subscription preferences are up to date. This will mean that you won't miss any vital information.

Please note that subscriptions have been carried over from 2023, so for example if you were subscribed to Year 1 2023, you are now automatically subscribed to Year 2 2024.

If your child participates in Choir, PSSA, or other groups, PLEASE SUBSCRIBE TO THESE GROUPS ALSO to avoid missing notifications about training, rehearsals, etc.
