This term,5 Baludarri students have embarked on an exciting journey into the world of informative writing. They first learnt about our First Nations People and the meaning behind Sorry Day. They are now exploring a variety of engaging topics, including the power of artificial intelligence in everyday life, how democracy functions in Australia, the wonders of space exploration, the critical importance of pollinator conservation, and the necessity of digital literacy in today’s modern world. As part of their learning experience, students are not only honing their writing skills but also preparing to publish their work on a website. This project will teach them how to present information clearly and effectively, ensuring it is accessible and engaging for their audience. We are thrilled to see their creativity and knowledge come to life as they share their insights with the wider community.
K Gunalung Brings Fairy Tales to Life!
Well done to Kaira whose artwork has been displayed as part of the Operation Art program. Last week Kaira attended the handover ceremony at Blue Mountains Theatre and Community Hub.
On Tuesday 12th November, Amyra Nayak (K/1 Gula) represented PEPS at the Grand Final level of the Metropolitan South and Metropolitan South and West Public Speaking Competition held at Berala Public School. Competing against 14 other Kindergarten students who were chosen from over 200 schools, she presented her prepared speech about why icecream is a better dessert than cupcakes. The impromptu topic was a balloon, which she convinced her audience was an excellent object to use at various celebrations - even if it pops, you can simply blow up another one! It was truly inspiring to watch all the young students speak in front of a large audience on a stage about a variety of topics. While Amyra was not chosen as the winner for the day, she was commended on her clear structure and confidence in both her prepared and impromptu speeches. Thank you to Mrs Humble, Mrs Adams and Amyra's parents for supporting her in preparation for the competition. This is just the beginning of her journey in public speaking and we congratulate her efforts and wish her all the best in her future public speaking endeavours.
